Note from Owner: "I have been led to believe that my home was built in the 19th Century, in its 'previous life' it was used not as a home but as a resting place for horse drawn coaches coming to what was a bustling area, its purpose was to allow the horses to rest and be fed and watered and the coach driver/drivers to do the same. Hay for food and bedding was stored up in the eves of the property which was accessed by the hayloft door above.
This building has a unique character, which at the time of the sympathetic renovation we endeavoured to keep in place, but still creating a home for a modern way of life today.
Whilst works took place we came across several indicators of its past life, interior and exterior cobblestones, a number of horseshoes left by the four legged guests and also several original bricks stamped with ' Diamond Jubilee 1837 to 1897'
It's been with great excitement that the reopening to the public of the Vestry Museum means that I have now arranged a meeting with their Archivist to research this building's historical importance.
We feel we should endeavour to preserve and promote our cultural heritage in these older buildings for future generations to come."
